Prayer for the Nation

So I finished reading the book of Daniel this past week. First of all, if you have not read this book of the Bible, I really want to encourage you to do so. Secondly, this book has blessed me more than words can describe. There is a chapter in the book where Daniel prays for his people. As I read the deep, encouraging, words I immediately right after, made my own prayer for our nation. If you had read my last post, I talked about my Praise Journal. Well I wrote this to stick in my praise journal and I would like to share it with you. I pray you will take time to pray for our rulers, our country, and our people. Pray they will turn their hearts upon the Lord.

May 10, 2012 - Unto The Nations

There was a foundation built 2,000 years ago. Christ poured out His great love on this troubled and desolate world. He brought everlasting righteousness. Jesus, the same one who was crucified will come again. We cry holy, holy, holy is the one who was and is to come, He is the anointed one was we await the coming of the age. Taken from a verse in Daniel's prayer for his people I also apply this to our generation and people. Daniel 9:19, “O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name." We await the coming of your Kingdom, Lord. Come soon, very soon. Therefore, we follow you, knowing it will cost everything to follow. Our pleas for mercy are great and I pray you will give our rulers wisdom and that they will turn to you O Lord. I also confess the sins of my people to you as Daniel did, Daniel 9:8, "To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our Kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you." Forgive us Lord, before we reach the end. Your promises are great, we hold onto your love, truth, grace, and mercy.

Reflection on my Praise Journal - To God

Dear Friend,

The beginning of this year I created a Praise Journal to God. I can admit that I used to own a diary and would write down silly things ( now let's be honest, who hasn't?) Anyway, I wanted to try something new. I prayed about it and the brilliant thought came to my mind. Light bulb! I would write in a journal on a daily basis of how God was working in my life. I would praise Him in the good and bad times. It has been almost four months since I started and in all honesty, my life has been blessed through this decision. Praising God...on a daily basis! Just being able to go back to the past few months and read how I've been able to grow and learn, let's just say... awesome doesn't even describe the feeling! Now as I reflect on these past few months, I really want to encourage you to do the same. You don't have to write every single day, and believe me...there have been many days that were skipped in my journal. I encourage you to write out your prayers, thoughts, praises, songs, and life...to God! I am so glad I made a Praise Journal and I hope that you will make one if not now, Lord willing, the future.

Sincerely,
Megan

Look up!

My, my! I have not written in a very long time and honestly things have become super busy. I want to take a moment though and just reflect on the sky. Yes, the sky! Have you looked up lately? Recently, I have been just been able to soak in the sunsets and let me just say, they are beautiful! God's creation and handi-work is magnificent. I honestly wish I wasn't so busy so I could just let God's creation bless my eyes more and more! If anything, I'm glad I have a sky to praise God for. A few days ago I caught this awesome picture of a heart-shaped cloud. Check it out!

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Stop, Pray, and Glorify!

You’re probably just wondering what that heading means. Well, first I want you to ask yourself, “Have I stopped today and took time to glorify and pray to God?” A question that might have aroused in your minds is, “Why is that even important?” Let me give you some insight on why I find it important to pray and glorify God. As we have hit the spring season (for us easterners we got it early this year!) have you ever just stopped to look at the beauty of God’s creation?

The air is fresh, the sky is blue, the grass is green, and Lord we love you! Yes, my little rhyme for the day, but have you really thanked God for what He has done? We magnify and love the beauty that is around us. Who made nature? God did! Who created you to enjoy His wonders? God did! What are you doing in return? Take a moment to just lift up a prayer of thanksgiving and praise to our Father. Psalm 96:13 says, “Let all creation rejoice before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his faithfulness.”

Some flowers in full bloom!

Who Will YOU Be?

Yesterday was Sunday, and because I was very sick, and caught a nasty cold I didn't make it to church. Even though I didn't get to go to church I found myself worshiping in my home, playing the piano and singing to the Lord, and just spending my day alone with God! In the afternoon I made myself pasta and coffee (and for dinner, I made making pasta again!) I’ve become very fond of Pasta, Alfredo sauce, and Pesto. So as I ate lunch, I decided to put on a movie called, “Faith Like Potatoes.” This movie is based on a true story about a farmer who lived in Zulu, Africa. His story is inspiring and fascinating and something about it just makes me ask myself, “God, send me to places where you want to be seen.” During the movie someone quoted a quote, and I was in such amazement over this quote that I paused the movie and wrote it down.

The quote was this, “It’s not the violence of the few that scares me as much as the silence of many.”

How perfect is that? The truth is just a matter of a few words! I was shocked. You know, this world is in such a bad shape and even though people say, “We need to stand up!” In reality, no one really does. It made me wonder, have I been too silent? Have I taken the time to really think about the people who live with no hope? There is a time when we will ask ourselves, “Will I stand up? Or will I keep living with the culture?” God wants us to be the Light! You don’t need to start by doing something huge; you can start by taking the little steps to get to the big steps. Will you make your voice heard and tell others that Jesus is Lord? Against the violence, against the hatred, against all evil, will you step up and take action?

I pray you do, this is what I want to do! I want to share the love of God to many, I pray you will not fear man, but fear God instead.

Through Art

Up and Away

Up and away,
Far and wide,
Sore upward and take flight,
My wings are not mine,
They are a gift from the King,
With the wind, He will lead me.

Lead me to places where He wants to be seen,
Through His servant He will do many things,
I will say, “The glory is God’s alone,”
He will pour His blessings out on many.
To the people who are unloved, He will love.
To the people who are hurt, He will heal.

The work He has for me, may be difficult,
The work He has for me, may seem rough,
No matter how hard the days may get,
I will still press towards the goal He has set for me.
The work here on earth is small compared to the joy I will receive.
I will praise my Father on High who has done great things for me.

                                                          The Painting of Psalm 54:6-7
                                                                By: Megan Becker

"With a freewill offering I will sacrfice to you:"

The colors that are going upward are the "smoke" if you wish to call them that. They are from the freewill offering that was sacrificed. Since offerings were made to God by one's hand, I painted this whole painting with my bare hands.

"...I will give thanks to your name, O Lord, for it is good..."

The verse goes on to say,

"For he has delivered me from every trouble,"

The black background means our trouble and the gold dots show the mercy falling back down on the Lord's servant therefore bringing deliverance. The verse then ends,

"And my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies."

Feeling Crafty!

My Aunty Danette has been making hats the last few weeks by crocheting! She has made a few for the girls in my family and I think they are the cutest hats ever. She is actually teaching the girls in our church how to make these warm, fluffy hats. I just made one and it's so relaxing and fun to do. Give it a try! You just might find out you like making hats.

Here is a picture of what my aunt has done and what my sister have accomplished! Of course there is much more!

Fasting From the Media -- FYI ( Facebook )

Well, it's all come down this this decision.

I'm fasting from facebook and most media including less TV time and more Bible time.

Why do this?

My answer is simple: Media robs our time. Time that could be spent with family and God.

Dis-connecting from the media will not only help me physically but also spirtually! Re-connecting with my "Abba" is important.

So starting January 10, 2012, I'm off for 30 days OR more.

Okay, before I tune out for awhile, I want to challange you to think about how you use your time, and if media is robbing your time away from the Lord and more important priorities then maybe it's time you take a break from those things for some time.

Alrighty, I've said my share and off I go!

Getting Ready to Celebrate!

Three days until we can celebrate the birth of Christ!

2,000 years ago on the other side of the world Jesus was born in place where no one would

believe a King could be born. A manger.

Christ came to save the world from sin.  We have not seen but we believe. I want to encourage

you this year to take time to read Luke 2, it is the Birth of Jesus.

Luke 2:11-12:

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.  This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

As Holiday Nears

I have not posted for awhile and thought I would just reflect on the past few weeks that have gone by SO fast. First of all the weather has been so cold and I am always trying to keep warm.

Well I'm sure many of you are trying to keep warm...

Thanksgiving went by fast but at that time I really got to take time and really praise God for what He has done for me. As the next big holiday nears, Christmas, I am now being remembered of God's love more and more.

Jesus' coming is the greatest thing that ever happend to this world.

I also have some pictures that I have taken over the past few weeks that I would like to share and of course they were taken in warmer weather!

God has also been at work in many areas of my life and others and I just want to give thanks to Him. Some days can be really tough and I look back and just think, "God really helped me stand through that all."

So to end this brief reflection, here are some smiles of my sisters Kristen and Sara:

The Snow Comes Early this Season!

It's late October and what do you know but it's snowing!? A little early if I do say so myself!

I woke up this morning to my youngest brother and sisters running around the house yelling, " It's snowing, it's snowing!" The littlest things in life bring such joy! I want to share some pictures that I took of this North-East Snowstorm. Of course we aren't getting it as bad as others...
